Another morning, once again 7.10am, once again I'm here drinking my morning coffee and reading the paper. This time, my eyes caught an article that trumpet "Motorbikers are getting older" (?).
Apparently, the department of motorveichle got a statistics that, compared to a similar one done 10 years ago, shows that the bikers population has grown old of about 10 years.
And I think: maybe, but just maybe, is that the peoples that got picked by this stats are exactly the same that got picked last time? So instead of asking different demographics, they simply asked the same and discovered hot water: peoples get old. And it also means that who was riding a bike 10 years ago keep doing it right now. While who wasn't driving 10 years ago maybe still doesn't now or drive a car.
Strangely (the article continues) the majority of the bikers owns a bike bought or built after 2000. Hummm... yeah, 'cause a bike that is 20+ years old is difficult to ride daily, spare parts get difficult to found and in the last few years it seems that government decided to declare war to motorized vehicles with the various EuroXXX laws. So if you want to keep riding you've got to buy a new iron.
And this also make me think that I have to bring the bike for the 40K km check-up. Yeah, bikes are also over-40, but the article didn't said that.
